For fifteen years, I have taught Social Studies, English, Humanities, and Spanish to grades 5-11 in Houston, Boston, and Lebanon. I have taught all ages of English language learners, from preschool to adults, and worked as an education consultant for English classes. My teaching methods are student-centered, differentiated, emphasize critical and creative thinking, and focus on developing literacy skills.
I have a bachelor's degree from Harvard University and a master’s degree in education from the University of Massachusetts. I hold Standard Texas Educator Certificates in Social Studies 8-12, Generalist 4-8, and ESL Supplemental EC-12.
I have extensive experience working in various migrant and lower-income communities having taught technology, first aid, citizenship, and dance. Living and traveling extensively throughout Latin America, the Middle East, and Asia has given me first-hand experiences to supplement my content knowledge, while allowing me to better understand people from different cultural backgrounds. My proficiency in Spanish, Arabic, and Portuguese allows me to relate to my students, their parents, and the wider community.
In this on-line portfolio, you will find pictures of me with students in extra-curricular activities and student trips, along with transcripts, certifications, letters of recommendation, class handouts, my philosophy of education, and a sample lesson plan. Please e-mail or call with any questions.
